IHS Dental Preventive and Clinical Support Centers Grants

The Indian Health Service (IHS) is soliciting applications, via the attached June 5, 2015, FEDERAL REGISTER notice, for grants under its Dental Preventive and Clinical Support Centers Program. The purpose of the grants is to provide support for dental programs on a regional or IHS Area basis, not for the provision of direct dental care. Applications are due August 3, 2015.

The priority goals of the grant program are to:
• Provide support, guidance, training, and enhancement of IHS/Tribal/Urban (I/T/U) dental programs within their Area, and
• Ensure that the services of the support centers and the I/T/U dental programs result in measurable improvements in the oral health status of the American Indian/Alaska Native patients served.

Eligible applicants are urban Indian organizations and tribal organizations as defined in 25 U.S.C. § 1603(29) and 25 U.S.C. § 603(26) referencing 25 USC 450b(1), respectively. The IHS encourages applications that propose to serve an entire IHS Area or region as opposed to a small number of dental programs.

The IHS has $1,000,000 in FY 2015 funds for the grants and expects to make four awards of $250,000 each. Cost sharing is not required.

Please let us know if we may provide additional information regarding the IHS Dental Preventive and Clinical Support Centers Program.
