IHS Issues Corrections to Key Dates for Tribal Self-Governance Program Planning and Negotiation Cooperative Agreements

The Indian Health Service (IHS) announced in two August 20, 2014, FEDERAL REGISTER notices corrections to Key Dates for the FY 2014 cooperative agreements for planning and negotiation under the Tribal Self-Governance Program (TSGP). The notices correct the date by which the signed tribal resolutions are due. Nothing has changed the due date for the applications; however, it is still August 29, 2014. The corrected Key Dates are below.

Key Dates for the Planning Cooperative Agreement:
Application Deadline Date: August 29, 2014
Review Date: September 8, 2014
Earliest Anticipated Start Date: September 15, 2014
Signed Tribal Resolutions Due Date: Not August 29, 2014 but September 8, 2014

Key Dates for the Negotiation Cooperative Agreement:
Application Deadline Date: August 29, 2014
Review Date: September 8, 2014
Earliest Anticipated Start Date: September 15, 2014
Signed Tribal Resolutions Due Date: Not August 29, 2014 but September 8, 2014

These competitive grant programs are authorized by Title V, Tribal Self-Governance Amendments of 2000, of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act, PL 93-638, as amended. The TSGP is designed to promote self-determination by allowing tribes to assume more control of IHS programs and services through compacts negotiated with the IHS. These two grant programs are described more fully in our General Memorandum 14-057 of August 1, 2014.

Please contact us if we may provide further information or assistance regarding the IHS FY 2014 Tribal Self-Governance Program planning and/or negotiation cooperative agreements.
