Federal Emergency Management Agency Seeks Tribal Applicant for Membership on National Advisory Council

On January 27, 2011, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) published the attached notice in the FEDERAL REGISTER requesting applications from individuals interested in serving on the National Advisory Council (NAC). The NAC consists of 35 members with expertise in varying fields serving staggered three-year terms. Accordingly, this year one-third of the positions are open for new applicants, including the position designated for a "Tribal Elected Official."

The NAC was established by the Secretary of Homeland Security to "ensure effective and ongoing coordination of Federal preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation for natural disasters, acts of terrorism and other man-made disasters." The NAC meets quarterly and provides advice and recommendations to the FEMA Administrator on the development and revision of the national preparedness goal, national preparedness guidelines, National Incident Management System (NIMS), National Response Framework, National Exercise Program, and other related plans and strategies.

Those interested in serving on the NAC are requested to submit a resume or Curriculum Vitae to FEMA between the dates of February 4, 2011, and March 4, 2011,
5 p.m. EST.
