Staci D. Coleman
Of Counsel
Ms. Coleman is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and a descendant
of the Cherokee Nation. She has practiced Indian law throughout
her career and has been with the Firm since 2001. Ms. Coleman
works primarily with Oklahoma tribes and represents them in a wide
range of issues, including tribal jurisdiction and sovereignty, governmental
development, land acquisitions, and gaming. She also assists tribal
clients as they interact with various federal agencies, most recently
helping tribal entities obtain Small Business Administration 8(a)
certification and coordinating with the Internal Revenue Service regarding
a multi-year, multi-entity civil audit.
Ms. Coleman received a B.S. with Honors in Economics from Southern Methodist
University and her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, where she
was a member of the Georgetown International Environmental Law Journal and founder
and president of the Native American Law Students Association. While earning
her law degree, she served as an intern at the White House, Office of Counsel
to the President; United States Department of Justice, Office of Tribal Justice,
and Oklahoma Indian Legal Services.
Ms. Coleman is admitted to practice in Oklahoma, Washington, DC, and several
tribal courts. She is also a member of the Native American Bar Association
and has previously served as President and Vice-President of Oklahoma Indian
Legal Services.
